QBZ-95G Data provided by RJ Andron

QBZ-95G: The QBZ-95G (Translation: Light Weapon, Rifle, Automatic 1995) is the latest variant of a new assault rifle manufactured in the People’s Republic of China since 1995. The rifle has seen deployment in the People’s Liberation Army and internal security forces, and is intended as the replacement for the older Type 81 rifle. The QBZ-95G will be distributed to frontline troops with older QBZ-95 rifles being placed with reserve units.

The bullpup-style rifle is intended as a basis of a family of small arms, including a carbine, rifle, and squad automatic weapon/light support weapon (SAW/LSW). The QBZ-95G has improved ergonomics, a heavier barrel, and is able to fire the heavier DPB88 ammunition which has improved ballistic performance over the original DPB87 ammunition (later improved to the DPB95). Both the DPB95 and DPB88 ammunition use an iron shell casing with cleaner-burning propellant and non-corrosive primer. Phoenix Command game statistics for both ammunition types currently in use are provided on the table below.

The QBZ-95G has selective fire for semi and fully-automatic fire as well as three round burst modes. A variant, the QBZ-97 is intended for export purposes and is chambered for 5.56mm NATO and will accept STANAG magazines.
